Dear Editor, Imagine a day-to-day reality where you are not free to practice your own religion or belief system. What restrictions does that place onto your day-to-day existence?
On May 14, 1962, Katherine Anne Porter published Ship of Fools, her first and last novel that put the uprooted Texan on easy street. Callie Russell Porter began her long life in 1890 at a wide spot in the road not far from Brownwood called Indian Creek. She was just two when her mother died and her father took his four small children home to Kyle between Austin and San Marcos.
I love using native plants in my landscaping and have listed some of the reasons below. Putting several of these plants together makes for an interesting, colorful pallet with a “messy” wildflower look.
Here are some of the highlights from this week’s City Council meeting. The council approved a lease agreement with Iron Horse Unlimited for the temporary use of city property located at 1099 State Highway 22 East from May 1 to Jan. 31, 2026, and the city will receive $750 a month in rent during that time, which will go into our general fund. Iron Horse Unlimited is a sub-contractor for Atmos Energy.
