Letter to the Editor, For many it has been quiet on the solar and wind front for a while. The election and inauguration of President Trump led many to believe the renewables drive was no longer a threat. Well, we can all hope, but so far it is not deterring companies from reaching out for new leases.
Dear Editor, Hamilton County 4-H would like to thank C&F Steel, Bullard Construction, The Melde Family and Danny Watson for their contributions to the Hamilton County Youth Fair. We would also like to thank Donahoo Lawn Service for the donated grilling supplies. We would not have been able to grill hamburgers without your generous donation.
To the Hamilton Community, The Hamilton I.S.D. Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to call for a bond election at a special called meeting Monday, Feb. 3, for $19.8 million. The purpose of this article is to inform you of how this number was reached, a timeline that dates back to May 2019.
A reminder to all the people I have written Courtesy Notices and Violation Notices to over the last two and a half years and have ignored my letters, along with anyone else that has property not being maintained as to removal of high grass, weeds and vegetation including dead trees, that a good neighbor and a responsible person will get their property cleaned up and in order. There are far too many lots in the City of Hamilton that one small spark with the wind blowing and this town will burn to the ground. We all know what’s happened in Los Angeles and don’t think it won’t here. The Code Compliance Department is going to start getting tough on these lots that have been neglected for years and if we have to clean them up it’s going to be expensive and some folks may end up losing their property. Please folks, lets show some pride in Hamilton and where we all live. Let’s also show some concern for our neighbors.
Wind corporations are setting their sights on Hamilton, Erath and Comanche Counties one more time. Orsted, a Danish company is actively seeking landowners to lease land for wind turbines to be located in the above counties.
Dear Editor, On behalf of the Hamilton Public Library, we want to thank everyone who contributed to creating such a wonderful Christmas Party and joined us in celebrating the Christmas season. This year we wanted to give back to our community for all the encouragement and support we’ve received this past year. We decided to offer an abundance of door prizes to our visitors and patrons at this year’s party. We could not have provided such fabulous prizes without the generous donations of these items. Thanks go to the Friends of the Library for pitching in to decorate our 4 beautiful trees in the library this year. And especially to Mary K. Gardner for her assistance with the ever-whimsical Grinch Christmas tree.
A new year means many different things to each of us. Most have to do with personal health goals such as eating healthier and exercising. Some have to do with career changes and personal improvement. At Hamilton City Hall our goals will, and should always be, to focus on our citizens and their needs.
