Great news from our City Administrator Stacey Norris. Texas New Mexico Power conducted a site visit in June and performed a walkthrough with Stacey, noting energy efficiency upgrades for all city buildings. Through that initial conversation, the City of Hamilton has been chosen to participate in TNMP’s pilot program, which offers brand-new lighting, thermostats, door sweeps, and other measures that can be installed by local contractors at no cost from TNMP.
Sharon Tate’s houseguest rubbed the sleep from his eyes on Aug. 9, 1969 and asked the tall intruder who he was and what he wanted. “I’m the devil,” answered Charles “Tex” Watson, “and I’m here to do the devil’s business.”
There are new faces you’ll see around city hall who already are and will be playing an integral part in the continued growth and development of Hamilton.
Chances are, you’ve gotten a scam text about unpaid toll charges or know someone who has. Now scammers are going even further and pretending to be the Department of Motor Vehicles from states all over the country. They insist that you pay for an "overdue travc ticket" and threaten to suspend your driving privileges (among other things) if you don't. Here’s how the scam works.
Letter to the Editor: The membership of the Live Oak Cemetery Association, near the Ohio Community would like to say Thank You to Keith Curry and the County Road Maintenance Team for Precinct 2. They have been faithful to respond over the past years to the flood damage to the road entering the cemetery. I know all who come by, and especially those who drive a distance to visit the cemetery appreciate the ability to safely enter with any type of vehicle. Last week I pointed out some small businesses in Hamilton for everyone to be sure and support. Many are individuals investing their life savings into hoping for the American dream of being a successful business owner. They are the backbone of what our nation was formed on and are essential to towns the size of Hamilton. They aren’t just business owners, but essential in creating the character and backbone of our community. We also must recognize the important roles others contribute to our community’s success.
By Alyssa Whaley Conservation seems to be on everyone’s mind. We are fielding questions about native prairie grasses and water conservation, and I am here for it. The sheer influx of folk into Texas has me in a near constant state of nostalgia. I am continually measuring what my ancestors saw looking out across the land, compared to what we see today, 200 years later. Can you imagine a side by side? We know what Asleep at the Wheel saw; they saw miles and miles of Texas! If that doesn’t give you goosebumps on your arms, I don’t know what will. It can feel defeating and honestly scary to wonder about the future of progress. When a fight breaks out amongst my kids I say, “We don’t need to place blame, we don’t need to point fingers, let’s just figure out a way forward, together.”
Dear Editor, Alyssa Whaley’s letter should be published in every newspaper in America!
In a time when public education across Texas faces mounting challenges, from funding uncertainties to shifting policy priorities, supporting local schools has never been more critical.
