Hamilton General Hospital Chief Operating Office Melissa DeLaGarza announced last Wednesday at the HGH board of directors meeting that the hospital was awarded a grant through the Rural Health Transformation Program The grant program is offered by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and funded by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to help transform rural health care throughout the United States. Texas overall will receive approximately $281.3 million each year. The HHSC has issued grants to HGH and other rural hospital districts that choose to participate to enhance or create community-based prevention, wellness and nutrition programs.

As summer’s final moments slip away and the temperatures rise, Monday, Aug. 10, marks the official reminder that school is near with “Meet the Teacher” for the elementary and junior high, and a “Back to School Night” for Hamilton High School.

The Evant Chamber will have Music on the Square, Saturday, Aug. 15 from 7-8:30 p.m., featuring Zachariah Carney. There will be $1.00 hot dogs and all the fixin’s, water sponsored by Bennett Creek White Dorpers and a bouncy house for the kids. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy.

The Hamilton Historic Main Street Program is seeking community-minded individuals who are interested in helping shape the future of downtown Hamilton. With board positions becoming available at the end of September, the program invites residents, business owners, property owners, and anyone passionate about the community to apply to serve on the Hamilton Main Street Board. The Main Street Board plays an important role in guiding efforts to preserve and revitalize Hamilton’s historic downtown while promoting economic development, tourism and community engagement. Board members work together to support local businesses, plan community events, encourage historic preserva- tion, and help develop projects that enhance the downtown district.
