The TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter in Hico won a name tag contest at the yearly State Recognition Day in Waco. The theme was TOPS goes to Las Vegas. Lots of cards, dice and poker chips were incorporated in the fun decorations for the statewide event. There were great speakers and weight-loss winners there to inspire us to continue our weight-loss journeys.

NYT bestselling author is coming to town

Fellow Texan and New York Times bestselling author Lisa Wingate is coming to town! The author of, “Before We Were Yours,” and “Shelterwood,” will appear at the Hamilton Public Library on Tuesday, June 30 at 5 p.m. Lisa will lead a library book club author talk and discussion about her bestseller, “The Book of Lost Friends.” Purchase of her books (cash only) and author book-signing will also be available.

Sirens to dispatch, court talks emergency planning

A representative from Waterway Engineering spoke to the Hamilton County Commissioners Court at their meeting on Tuesday about the installation, operation and maintenance of the county’s SB3 Siren Program. The project is one hundred percent funded by a grant from the Texas Water Development Board in response to the 2025 flash flood disaster in Kerrville and along the Guadalupe River Watershed.
