At their meeting last Wednesday, the Hamilton Hospital District board approved training for Hamilton General Hospital emergency medical staff in the treatment of obstetrical emergencies, complications and immediate post-delivery care. Chief Nursing Officer Angela Newton laid out the new requirements in accordance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a federal agency under the Department of Health and Human Services, for Critical Access Hospitals (CAH), of which HGH is one.

By Jaxon Hansard Lifelong Hamilton Resident Kendal Stroud was severely injured in a one-vehicle accident on 281 South, coming out of Stephenville towards Hico, on June 19. She is currently in the ICU at Harris Methodist in Fort Worth.

In an effort to help reduce the mosquito population and protect public health, the City of Hamilton will begin spraying for mosquitos this week. Residents are encouraged to take safety precautions during the sprayings such as remaining indoors when possible and bringing pets, pet food, water dishes and other outdoor items inside until spraying is complete.

Hamilton City Hall will have new office hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday effective July 1. These new hours are intended to provide consistent access to the city services and better serve residents throughout the workweek.

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is partnering with American Legion Post 222 for their annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4. This celebration of America’s independence will start at 9 a.m. on the courthouse lawn and include a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a tribute to our flags, and a color guard presentation.

First Baptist Church of Hamilton would like to extend our gratitude to the City of Hamilton Public Works Department and Lance Buster for going above-and-beyond in coming to our aid over the weekend. After losing water access to the FBC Youth and Family Life Center, Buster and HPWD employees responded promptly in order that we could host a family for a funeral service and bereavement meal on Saturday.
