Entering their final district basketball game of the season on Tuesday of this week in Hamilton versus Rio Vista, the Bulldog basketball team was in need of a win and a little help from top-seeded Itasca.

The Hamilton Lady Bulldogs, with a 22-8 record, have run roughshod over the District 12-2A competition. With one district contest remaining in Frost on Tuesday of this week, the Lady Dogs had already sunk their teeth into the district title with an unmatched 9-0 district record.
Eight seniors and their parents were recognized prior to district basketball games versus Valley Mills held at the Larry Eilers Gymnasium in Hamilton last Friday evening. Seniors Averi Poe, Kenedy Craig and Cortland Mehaffey led the Lady Bulldogs to a 78-45 victory over Valley Mills to clinch a District 12-2A title, and senior Bulldogs Bryson Tarpley, Kade Parrish and Baylyn Parrish helped propel the Bulldogs on senior night to a 51-46 victory over the Eagles. Poe, Craig and Mehaffey played in their final home game on Monday of this week in a 54-24 drubbing of Italy. Hamilton’s Bulldog senior trio will play their final home game next Tuesday at 7 p.m. versus Rio Vista. Hamilton’s varsity Bulldogs inched closer to a playoff berth last Friday with a 51-46 hardcourt victory over Valley Mills. Senior Bryson Tarpley knocked down five three-pointers, lighting up the Larry Eilers Gymnasium scoreboard for 19 of Hamilton’s 51 points. Sophomore guard Jaxon Edwards recorded 15 points, nine of which came off an efficient three of four shooting performance from behind the three- point arc. Baylyn Parrish and Mike Bushnell added six apiece to the Bulldog tally, followed by Cooper LeGrande and Evan Norwood-Hall with two apiece and Kazdon Thedford with a free throw.
JV District Champs
LIKE MIKE: Hamilton’s junior varsity Bulldogs are wagging their tails and tongues after picking up a pair of victories last week. The JV White dominated in Gorman with a 36-10 victory, and the JV Red improved to 17-1 on the year by drilling Valley Mills 68-16 to remain unbeaten in district. Three JV Red Bulldogs ended the evening in double digits last Friday in the home win over Valley Mills. Colter Johnson banged the boards for a team-leading 17 points scored. Ben Ivey finished the night with 11 points, including ten in the fourth quarter alone, and Judson Coalson knocked down a trio of three-pointers on his way to posting 11 on the Eagles. Five other Bulldogs rounded out the scoring, including Devin Eanes with eight, Halston Haile seven, Pierce Summers six, Henry Ivey four and Yeydy Rivas with four. The JV Red Dogs were scheduled to play in Frost on Tuesday of this week before returning home to host Itasca this Friday at 5:30 p.m. The final game of the season for Hamilton’s JV Red is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday in Hamilton versus Rio Vista. Seven Lady Bulldog powerlifters joined 64 competitors in Hico on Thursday of last week and tied with Stephenville for a second overall team finish with 21 points scored. Dublin took first place with 37 points.
Due to inclement weather, Hamilton’s home basketball games versus Italy originally scheduled for Tuesday of this week have been moved to this Thursday.
