Hamilton’s Lady Bulldog golf team cut their teeth on a slice of state Monday during the 2A UIL State Golf Championships held at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin. After the first round of competition, the Lady Bulldogs were sitting ninth out of the state’s top 12 contending teams. Emery McElroy led Hamilton’s first-day effort with an 18-hole score of 102, followed by fellow sophomores Addy Clowdus and Marley Boatwright with rounds of 106 and 109, respectively. Freshman Addley Yates recorded a score of 110, and junior Austin Kleiner stroked a 116. Following the first round, Head Coach O.J. Kemp noted Hamilton’s team score of 427 matched the Lady Bulldogs’ first round output during the regional tournament, which of course helped propel the Lady Dogs to state. The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to return to the Lions Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday for the second and final round of the state tournament.
