STRETCH AND RELAX- Hamilton Junior High ACE participants learned yoga last week with instructor Kym Jeschke. Summer ACE will bring in an American Ninja Warrior course this Wednesday and Thursday. American Ninja Warrior competitor Jared Greer will be at Hamilton High School Gym from 6 to 8 p.m. Greer leads a ministry called Overcoming Obstacles, and will set up a Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course for youth from entering sixth grade to recent high school graduates. Weed wackers, street tacos and cornhole are just a few of this weekend’s Fourth of July celebration events. Festivities kick off Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hamilton Fair Park and the Keith Curry Arena with the Hamilton Weed Wacker Lawn Mower races sponsored by Coalson Excavation and Hamilton Ready Mix.

ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT- Coaches Sonny DeLaGarza and Ryan Marwitz were good sports about getting pied at St. John Lutheran Vacation Bible School this week. Hamilton 4-H has been asking the community for leftover blue jeans for several weeks, and last week they put those donations to good use, thanks to the family of Rita Curry.

FISHING DAY- Rhonda Scott from Focused Care was among those who took advantage of National Go Fishing Day at Meridian State Park.

COMMUNITY GARDENS – Texas Agrilife Extension and Hamilton County Museum volunteers recently planted community gardens through the Growing and Nourishing Healthy Community Gardens program, a Texas A&M Agrilife Extension program that provides seeds, transplants, soil, building material and technical support to the participants who are wanting to grow community gardens or backyard gardens. It is also funded in part by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Extension Agent Bruce Boyd built the boxes for the raised beds and Master Gardener Colin Melton filled the beds with dirt and installed a timed irrigation system. Jim Keay and museum volunteers planted the beds and Robert Schronk built braces for the raised beds.
