Early voting for the March 3 joint primaries for Democratic and Republican parties has gotten off to a slow start and continues this week at the Hamilton County Courthouse.

Sharing some highlights from our City Council meeting held for the month of February. There was an agenda item pertaining to Tractor Supply. It was to annex the 6.817 acres into the city. This will allow Hamilton to be able to collect property tax and sales tax revenues, VIA Real Estate owns Tractor Supply buildings and Tractor Supply leases from them. On Monday, Feb. 9, the completed building was turned over from the construction contractor to Tractor Supply, who is now in the process of assembling all of the shelving/ display material and putting up product on shelves. I went out to Tractor Supply today and met with the new store manager, Dillon Hofstetler. They are planning a soft opening on March 14 followed by the grand opening on March. 21. Exciting times for Hamilton for sure.
February is Love Your Library Month, and Hamilton Public Library is ouering a full schedule of programs for all ages.
Hamilton Community Center is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. each day. Menu subject to change Thursday: Smoked sausage, pinto beans, potato salad and brownies. Donated by Evant Church of Christ. Dominoes and cards at noon.

In 1903 Adina de Zavala, granddaughter of Texas’ first vice president, called upon Clara Driscoll with a dire plea to save the Alamo. The grounds had fallen into disrepair, limestone was chipped away as souvenirs, and there was talk of commercializing the building and grounds.
Early voting has begun and will continue through Feb. 22 for the March 3 election.
