The 2026 Bulldog Baseball season came to an end May 8 in the Area round in a contested 2-0 sweep from Rio Vista. The Bulldogs finished the year with a 12-191 record and the bi-district championship. Hamilton was down early, giving up one run in the first inning by walking three batters and accidentally hitting a fourth with a pitch. A pair of singles gave the Eagles two runs in the third. A whole new game started in the bottom of the fourth inning when Hamilton scored six runs. With bases loaded, Zeb Murphree smacked a hard ground ball single to bring Grant Bauman home and advance the bases. Carson Roberts made a successful move to home plate on a passed ball before Lawson Yates smacked a line drive to center field to bring home Murphree and Nathan Hall for two runs. After Ridge Lasater was hit by a pitch, Brazos McGregor singled a slinging line drive to right field to bring in Yates. Lasater got a run back from his walk after stealing home. After that big inning, Hamilton led 6-3. After multiple “3 up, 3 down” showings from both teams, Rio Vista scored two runs from a double RBI (Runs batted in). A costly 7th inning put the Bulldogs in the dog house after the Eagles were able to score runs off of a Hamilton error and then a soaring triple from Rio Vista put another run on the board and a runner on third base. The runner on third was brought home after a wild pitch brought another Eagle to the bases and up with the winning score of 8-6 against the Bulldogs. Lasater and Grant Bauman had one run and hit each. McGregor had two hits and one RBI. Carson Roberts and Nathan Hall each had a run. Murphree had one run, hit and RBI, while Yates had one run, hit and two RBI. Roberts pitched for six innings and scotched 11 strikeouts.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Bud Ratcliff presented an updated report on Hamilton’s involvement in the ICE 287G partnership program at Tuesday’s Hamilton County Commissioners Court meeting.
STATE GOLF UPDATE
After a town send-off, a rain delay, a cancellation and more rain delays, the Hamilton Bulldogs won the bi-district round after three compact games in two different settings against the recently selected Santo Wildcats to get first time head coach Dylan Driskill his first postseason victory.
Harper Lengefeld first picked up a tennis racket three years ago as a freshman, and under the guidance of Hamilton High School Head Tennis Coach Miles Sellers, she steadily found her groove and earned an individual silver medal in just the third week of her debut season. Lengefeld went on that season to claim bronze in two subsequent tournaments and punched a surprising ticket to regionals by placing second in district. Needing a top two finish at the regional tournament in North Richland Hills to advance to state in 2024, the unseeded freshman shocked the competition and narrowly missed boarding a state bound bus after capturing a regional bronze medal.
Evant Texas was well represented at the Regional track meet this past weekend. Speedy Elks placed in the top 10 in over half of the events they participated in.
