Though the 2022-23 school year for Hamilton I.S.D. is set to begin on Wednesday, August 17, Hamilton High School athletes and band members are scheduled to report for fall workouts beginning next Monday.
The 30 annual Gary Wayne Schoen, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled to resume July 30-31 following a twoyear postponement due to COVID-19 and golf course renovations.
STATE BOUND SHARKS - A record twelve Hamilton Bull Sharks head to the the TAAF State Games of Texas in Corpus Christi this weekend including Knox Mauney, Maaike Sheffler, Boris Sheffler, Julia Sheffler, Lyla Mauney, Abram Brooks, Cooper Mauney, Cason Ingram, Sydney Radabaugh, Benjamin Brooks, Trint Jeschke and Riley Haile (not pictured). The team is coached by Codie Brooks.
Hamilton Bull Sharks sent 37 swimmers ages five to 16 years old to the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Region 5 Swim Meet in Bryan on Saturday. Bull Sharks competed in 91 of the 138 events.
Case Koether attended the 2022 Texas State Trap Shoot in San Antonio over the weekend.
ALL-STATE SOUTHPAW - In addition to Chase Weaver being named the District 7-2A Most Valuable Player, the junior southpaw was recently named to the 2A Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State first team as a pitcher. From the mound this season, Weaver recorded 145 strikeouts, an 11-2 record and an earned run average of .482. Facing 286 opposing batters in over 72 innings pitched, Weaver only walked 34 batters and held his opponents to a pedestrian .124 batting average. LET’S GO DOGS! The 2022-23 Lady Bulldog Cheer Squad attended UCA Cheer Camp on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station last week. Hamilton’s cheer team received coveted gold ribbons in each of their two evaluations, and senior Grace Killian earned a Pin-It Forward Award for outstanding spirit and leadership. The Lady Bulldog cheerleaders posed in front of Texas A&M University’s Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. A crown jewel of collegiate baseball stadiums, Blue Bell Park opened in February 2012. Much of the stadium’s masonry was completed by Hamilton’s very own P&S Masonry. Hamilton High School Cosmetology student Scarlett Wynne traveled to SkillsUSA Nationals competition in Atlanta in June. Wynne competed in Prepared Speech. “We fell short of the top ten,” said instructor Danna Farmer. “But, I couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments.” Scarlett returns to Hamilton High School this fall as a senior.
