TRIPLE CROWN - Senior Caleb Lengefeld will be returning to state in pursuit of a triple crown. The regional champion 3200 and 1600-meter runner, and regional 800-meter silver medalist, will first compete in the state 3200-meter run on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by the 800-meter run at 5:20 p.m. and the 1600-meter run at 8:15. STATE BOUND GOLFERS - The 2022 Bulldog golf team, coached by O.J. Kemp and Maury Heers and led by senior duo Tyner Haile and Mason Guinn, will be leaving on a bus from Hamilton High School this Sunday at 11 a.m. for the Texas UIL 2A State Golf Championships. The Bulldogs will tee off at the state tournament to be held at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Following up on a District 12-2A title grab, Hamilton’s state bound golf squad, including Haile, Guinn, Garrett Guinn, Darby Craig and Davin Crouch, placed third out of the region’s top 16 teams at the 2A Region II Golf Tournament held April 18-19 at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. Last season, the Bulldogs placed sixth overall at the state tournament. Four of Hamilton’s 2021 state competitors are returning to represent the Dogs in Austin this year with Hamilton’s newest addition, freshman standout Garrett Guinn, filling the shoes of 2021 graduate Denver Poe. Hamilton High School is sending nine representatives to the 2022 Texas UIL 2A State Track and Field Championships to be held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of University of Texas in Austin on Friday, May 13.

For the second consecutive year, the Hamilton Bulldog track team claimed a 2A Region II Track and Field Championships title last week in Springtown, racking up a total of 90 team points to best a field of the region’s top 32 teams. In all, Hamilton High School had nine athletes qualify for the state meet to be held in Austin on Friday, May 13, including Bulldogs Taylor Long, Caleb Lengefeld, Dawson Melde and Mason Guinn, and Lady Bulldogs Cortland Mehaffey, Lily Emeyabbi, Mia Coker, Madison Henkes and Campbell Lengefeld.

For the second consecutive year, the Lady Bulldogs claimed an area track championship on Wednesday of last week in Tolar, besting a field of 14 teams. The Bulldogs placed second in the area-round competition behind only Tolar.

The Hamilton Bulldog golf team is again headed to state after placing third out of the region’s top 16 teams last week at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. Led by seniors Mason Guinn and Tyner Haile, the Dogs entered day two of the tournament on Tuesday of last week four strokes out of state contention, sitting in fourth position tied with Hico and behind Lindsay, Albany and Valley Mills in consecutive order.
