Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Gary Wayne Schoen, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament was a wonderful weekend at Perry Country Club. After a two-year break, we were very happy to have all of our golf family back together again to celebrate. Our golf tournament is a BIG golfing family reunion. The tournament was opened with a prayer by Pastor Aaron Kalbus. This year we had a total of fifty-six three-man teams. Twenty- eight teams began play at seven in the morning and twenty-eight teams began play in the afternoon. Many thanks go to all of the golfers that came out to help celebrate the 30th anniversary.

Incoming Freshman Case Koether competed at the Grand American National Trap Shooting Championships in Sparta, Illinois at the World Shooting Complex. Case competed on the Texas State Trap Shooting team with shooters from across the state. The Texas team took the championship title in Singles Trap Class AA and second in the nation overall as sub juniors. Individually, Case was the 3-gun champion in the Sub Junior division.

STATE MEDALIST: Incoming Lady Bulldog freshman Anna Pearcy qualified for and competed in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Games of Texas State Track and Field Championships in Corpus Christi on Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24. Competing in the 14U Division versus 34 of the state’s top runners, Pearcy raced to a third in state finish in the 800-meter run in a personal best time of 2:28.63, and she placed fifth out of an elite field of 24 competitors by clearing 4’10” in the state high jump competition. Pearcy advanced to state by winning both the regional 800-meter run and high jump competitions in Waco a few weeks prior. In Waco, Pearcy cleared a regional best height of 5’0” in the high jump. HJH CHEER: Following a three-day working retreat, the 2022-23 Hamilton Junior High cheer team showed off their newly learned stunts and dance routines for the public last Saturday. KING OF THE HILL: Postseason accolades continue to pour in for Hamilton Bulldog pitcher Chase Weaver. Weaver helped lead the Bulldogs last spring to the regional quarterfinal round of the baseball playoffs. In addition to being named the District 7-2A Most Valuable Player and to the 2A Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association all-state first team, the junior lefty was also recently honored with third team all-state recognition by the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association. Hamilton High School student-athletes reported for duty on Monday of this week, and following the first week of fall workouts will be introduced to the community this Saturday at Kooken Field beginning at 6 p.m.
