Carol Jackson

Carol Sandra (Howard) Jackson, 76, of Hamilton passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, at 1 p.m., officiated by her brother-in-law, Rev. Danny Jackson. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 21, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton.

Carol was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Weinert, the youngest of six children born to Maude Jones and Arlie E. Howard. She was a loving and dedicated daughter.

Carol and her family grew up farming around various communities in Texas, primarily in the Fairy community in Hamilton County and Goree, where she met her high school sweetheart, Robert Jackson.

Carol and Robert married July 1, 1960. She was a dedicated wife, supporting Robert during his naval career, which took them to several bases and cities throughout the United States for more than 20 years, and loving mother to their two sons, Robert and James.

Throughout her life, Carol worked in several occupations but was most proud of her accomplishments as a hair stylist and cosmetologist. Always a hard worker, she earned her GED and graduated from Del Mar College in Corpus Christi with a license in Cosmetology in the early 1980s.

She worked as a hair stylist in a small salon with a close friend in Corpus Christi until entering the telecommunications industry to help support her family. Carol worked for GTE for more than 20 years and through several moves from Giddings to San Angelo and finally Flower Mound.

Throughout her entire career at GTE, she maintained her cosmetology license and was a hairstylist for family and friends and was extremely proud of her youngest granddaughter who, like her, received her cosmetology license.

Carol retired from GTE in July 2000, and she and Robert moved to Hamilton to be closer to family in the area.

The couple purchased and restored a 1904 house, and Carol took great pride in decorating and furnishing the home in her style, but also paying tribute to the history and age of the house.

Carol was an active part of the Hamilton community. She enjoyed fitness classes at the Hamilton Wellness Center and volunteering at United Care. She was an Auxiliary Member of the local American Legion Auxiliary and member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hamilton.

Carol was funny, kind and very generous, helping those she could.

She loved all things beautiful including animals, music, especially Elvis, art and collected crystal and glassware. She will truly be missed.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Maude and Arlie E. Howard, brother Ray Howard, and sisters Maude Lou Thompson, Juanell Thackerson and Wanda Bullard.

Carol is survived by her husband, Robert F. Jackson Sr. of Hamilton; sons Robert F. Jackson Jr. of Dallas and James H. Jackson and wife Jill of Hutto; sister Mary White of Illinois; three grandchildren, Alyssa Curry of Corinth, Garrett C. Jackson of Spokane, Washingon and Kendra Jackson of Dallas; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends across Texas and the US.
