King Fisher entered the state penitentiary on Oct. 30, 1870 to do a five-year stretch for housebreaking. But the governor took pity on the 16 year old convict and granted him a full pardon after only four months behind bars.

Hamilton High School on Monday became the only school in Region II-2A to have both their boys and girls cross country teams qualify for the Texas UIL State Cross Country Championships to be held at Dell Diamond in Round Rock on Saturday, November 6. Hamilton’s top-ranked Bulldogs placed second on Monday in Grand Prairie, trailing Region II Champion Poolville by just two points, and the Lady Bulldogs placed third out of the region’s top 24 teams to stamp a ticket to the state competition. The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to run in Round Rock beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, followed by the Bulldogs at 9. More results from the Region II-2A Championships will be included in next week’s edition of the HHN.
