Texans remember San Jacinto Day
April 21 is celebrated each year as San Jacinto Day in Texas, commemorating the anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto. On this date in 1836, General Sam Houston and the Texas Army defeated Santa Anna’s Mexican troops, winning independence for Texas in a battle that lasted only 18 minutes. Though the battle was very short, the course was history was changed forever.

Council OKs streetlight replacement
In a three-to-one vote, the Hamilton City Council moved forward with replacing streetlights along US281 and SH36 to make them uniform.

STATE BOUND- The Hamilton Bulldog golf team is again headed to state after placing third out of the region’s top 16 teams on Monday and Tuesday of last week at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris. TxDOT begins bypass study
Hamilton residents have heard the words “loop” and “bypass” tossed around for decades, and a new study by Texas Department of Transportation may put the show on the road. All over town, “X” marks the spots where an aerial survey will initiate a three-year feasibility study for a potential US 281 bypass from Hico to Evant.
County thespians taking it to state
