DRT group recently attend District 2 meeting
On Saturday, Aug. 8, 62 Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) met in Hillsboro for the annual District 2 meeting. Members of the Bosque River Chapter of Stephenville attended to hear reports from the DRT Board of Management and participate in workshops with various board members, such as the president, registrar and treasurer.
Readers to see modest increase for subscriptions, advertising
Like a gas station, a grocery store or a dentist’s office, this newspaper provides a valuable public service – but it is also a business. And like all businesses, this newspaper is subject to market forces that range from inflation to insurance costs, interest rates, taxes and more. Rising costs and a shifting economy that have resulted in price increases affecting everything from the cost of fuel to the cost of bread have not spared the Hamilton Herald-News.
Dove on the rise, says TPWD
Elevated rainfall in Texas has been a boon for doves. This is the third year in a row for record or near-record highs in their numbers, including the highest estimates ever for whitewinged doves. This is not a season to sit out.

Commissioners lift first responders in prayer, take action on disaster protection
Disaster protection and prevention were the topics at Tuesday’s Hamilton County Commissioners Court meeting. Precinct 1 Commissioner Johnny Wagner began the meeting with a prayer for the Rio Escondido fire’s first responders and residents in harm’s way.
