Dear Editor: The HISD board meeting Oct. 17, 2022, was well attended. The public participation, always on the agenda, was mostly about the “bad” and “ugly” of the 1027-acre solar project located south of Lamkin. The speakers ranged from those who live nearby, to the Pottsville area and State Highway 281 North. Ages ranged from HISD students to seasoned adults.

Kwame never cursed, slammed the steering wheel or even sighed. K-LOVE played on his radio, and he sat way back in his seat, casually humming to the radio when he knew the song.

Hi, My name is Clementine Cooper and I am a sophomore at Hamilton High School. I am president of the Student Council and an active member of the FFA. I am a cheerleader and a proud Lady Dog. My namesake and great great Aunt Clementine Venneman rode on a covered wagon with her parents to settle on the Texas Plains in 1904. She survived extremely hard times like the Great Depression & the Dust Bowl days and was a true lover of the land. Aunt Clementine passed that love of land on to me which is why I write today.
What 4-H means to me
One Day 4H is an event that allows 4H members, volunteers and parents to help the community through service projects. This year, Hamilton County 4H members will gather to pick up trash on the walking trail at Pecan Creek Park Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to help should meet at the extension ovce I’m Joseph Polster, left, the Hamilton County 4-H President, and I participate in Food Challenge, showing turkeys, public speaking, home economics in the county show, and many other things. 4-H has given me many opportunities such as leadership, citizenship, inspiring public health, educating the youth, and many more opportunities. I can’t wait to see what this year brings for 4-H! I’m Zeb Murphree, top left, the Hamilton County 4-H vice president, and I participate in showing cattle, livestock judging and many other things in 4-H. The 4-H program gives you opportunities to lead in things and be able to speak confidently in public.
