On Tuesday of last week in Valley Mills, the Lady Dogs delivered the Lady Eagles their first and only district loss with a wing clipping 63-36 beatdown.

Despite jumping out to a 28-24 third quarter lead last Friday in Italy, the Hamilton Bulldogs were upended by a 16-9 fourth quarter push by the Gladiators and fell in their district opener by a competitive 40-37 score.

A pair of Hamilton High School juniors on the 29-8 regional quarterfinalist 2022 Lady Bulldog volleyball team were named to the Texas Sports Writers Association all-state volleyball team over the weekend. Both receiving all-state recognition as middle blockers, Brooklyn Bragg (28) was named to the TSWA all-state third team, and Kelton Wright (5) received an honorable mention all-state nod. The junior varsity Lady Bulldogs took another big step towards claiming a district title last week, earning a pair of victories over district foes, Rio Vista and Italy.

The varsity Lady Bulldogs have picked off their first three district opponents and are now pacing the District 122A field. At 16-9 on the year and 3-0 in district, Hamilton sits atop the district standings ahead of 2-0 Valley Mills, 2-1 Frost, 1-2 Italy, 0-2 Rio Vista and 0-3 Itasca. Led by Brooklyn Bragg’s 18 points, the Lady Bulldogs pummeled Rio Vista at home on Tuesday of last week 45-16.
