Hamilton skies went from blue to black in a matter of minutes Sunday afternoon, and it wasn’t long before everyone realized this could be “the big one.”
The National Weather Service reported wind speeds in excess of 75 miles per hour with inner cloud speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, according to Sheriff Justin Caraway, who ordered the sirens to sound about 4 p.m.
“There was no tornado, but there was great potential according to the NWS,” he said. “They were telling us the storm threat was growing, and we wanted to be sure and give enough warning for the community.”
