Hamilton’s junior high cross-country teams earned four District 12-2A titles on Monday of last week at the Perry Country Club in Hamilton, defeating district opponents from Italy, Itasca, Rio Vista, Valley Mills and Frost.
DUAL-THREAT - The Evant Elks fell to May 55-0 in their district opener two weeks ago, moving to 0-7 on the year and 0-1 in district. Coming off a bye week and with just three district games remaining, the Elks are aiming to set their antlers on the right course this Friday as they travel to face the 3-4 on the year and 0-2 in district Lometa Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Lometa followed up a 76-28 district opening loss to Jonesboro by falling to May last week on the road in a tight 62-54 contest. Hamilton's junior varsity Bulldogs fell to the visiting Coleman Bluecats by a touchdown, 12-6, last Thursday evening at Kooken Field, moving to 3-3-1 on the year and 1-2 in district.
HERD MENTALITY: 58 high school male competitors, pictured barrelling down hole number six at the Perry Country Club in Hamilton, and 63 high school female runners representing 11 school districts competed on Wednesday of last week in the 19th annual Mona Gloff Invitational hosted by Hamilton High School.
Despite dropping a match to defending 1A state champion Blum on Tuesday of last week, the now 20-8 Lady Bulldogs bounced back on Saturday to upend Tolar in four sets to open district with a 1-0 record.
