Lady Dogs tap third straight area title
Hamilton’s Lady Bulldogs posted a 7-1 record in district to claim a share of the District 11-2A title with Hico and wasted no time last week in nabbing both bi-district and area championships. On Tuesday, the Lady Dogs traveled to Clyde and bounced Colorado City from the first round of the playoffs in three commanding sets by scores of 2511, 25-20 and 25-19.
Lady Dogs to host Hoopfest
Depending on playoff volleyball, the Lady Bulldogs will possibly tip off their 2024-25 basketball campaign on Tuesday of next week with a home opener versus Millsap. If not, the Chris Arledge led Lady Dogs will open the season by hosting Hamilton Hoopfest on Thursday, Nov. 21, through Saturday, Nov. 23.
Undefeated 10th-ranked Dogs aim to start right vs. Whitewright
Fresh off a district clinching 35-28 victory over De-Leon, the undefeated district champion Hamilton Bulldogs have now entered a field of 64 teams as a new season of playoff football kicks off this Friday night at Herman Clark Stadium in Fort Worth, beginning at 7 p.m.

Evant, Jonesboro enter playoff hunt
Both the Evant Elks and the Jonesboro Eagles have volleyball and football teams that have entered the playoff fray. Evant’s state-ranked volleyball team entered the week with a 31-6 record and a Tuesday regional quarterfinal matchup with the 21-20 Lingleville Cardinals on the docket in Comanche. The Lady Elks were undefeated District 16-1A champions this year, earning a pair of victories over each of their district foes to include second- placed Jonesboro, thirdplaced Oglesby and fourthplaced Lometa.
Bell ringers work for rings
In keeping with tradition, Hamilton I.S.D. held a school-wide bell ringing ceremony for the state champion Lady Bulldog cross country team following last Friday’s pep rally. Members of the 2024 State Champion Lady Bulldog cross country team include A.J. Arledge, Henlee Wagner, Emily Najera, Emma Ensor, Milagros Moncada, Head Coach Brandun Massingill, Chaska Downs, Presley Long, Anna Pearcy, Kate Lengefeld, Kaitlyn Walton, Kayla Tawater, Berlin Bolton and Alianne Downs.
Summers kicks back-to-back butt
Overcoming a 16-point deficit and five Jared Goff interceptions, the Detroit Lions kicked a game winning 52-yard field goal Sunday night to earn a 26-23 victory over the host Houston Texans. The kick propelled Joe Summers to a second consecutive victory in the HHN Football Pick ‘em Challenge sponsored last week by Wenzel Lonestar Meat Company, earning the reigning champ a gift basket chock full of Bite My Butt goods.
