Following a month of 5:45 a.m. workouts, Hamilton’s high school cross-country teams lit a spark in their first competition of the season on Wednesday of last week in Brownwood.

As if the rock band Cake had the 2021 Bulldogs in mind when they recorded their 1996 hit single, the Hamilton Bulldogs displayed a need for speed in going “The Distance” in Moody last Friday night as they sped past the host Bearcats, 46-7.

The Texas Association of Golf Coaches bestowed all-state recognition on 13 Hamilton High School golfers last week for their performance on the course and in the classroom last spring.
Foreshadowing an ominous night for Moody’s visiting junior varsity squad last Thursday evening at Kooken Field, Hamilton’s Izaac Wood returned the opening kickoff 34 yards across to the Moody 40 yard line. Four plays later, Bryce Bankston made Hamilton’s first deposit of many to come in the scoring box as the young Bulldogs rolled the Bearcats in their season opener, 52-0.
