Oct. 4, 1961-Sept. 26, 2026 Tony Louis Dodson, age 64, passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2026, in Denton.

Tony was born in Hamilton, on October 4,1961 to Harvey and Lucille Dodson. He grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1980. He was active in sports throughout school, playing football and running track as well as playing baseball. After high school, Tony attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, obtaining a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1986. He went on to work for the state of Texas for many years.

Tony was a loving and proud father to his son, Dustin and “Papa” to his two beautiful granddaughters, Reagan and Ella, whom he loved dearly. He was known to be kind, giving and very loyal, maintaining many heartfelt, lifelong friendships. Those who were lucky enough to know Tony were blessed to enjoy his sense of humor and warm personality. He was funny, even silly at times (especially with his granddaughters), could be a bit quirky and was incredibly intelligent. Tony loved his country, enjoyed history and spent hours watching and learning from documentaries. He was also very passionate about politics. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone about history, politics and a wide variety of other topics as well. He loved looking up information and researching random things. In addition, he enjoyed nature, loved fishing in his younger years, and loved to talk about his visits to the Grand Canyon, Florida beaches, Yellowstone National Park and the cruises he had taken.

Tony remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely, if ever, missed watching a game. He also loved UNT football and attending games with his son. The Baylor Bears were another team that he loved, and his Baylor hat was often a conversation starter, especially when he traveled out of state. He also was known for his dance moves and would dance with literally everyone.

Tony is survived by his son, Dustin Louis Dodson, daughter-in-law Kimberly Dodson and two granddaughters, Ella, 15 and Reagan, 6 of Justin. He is also survived by his sisters Patty Dodson Delarosa and Rebecca Dodson Batey, maternal aunt Alice Fay Haynes, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Dodson, father Harvey Dodson, brother Harvey Joe Dodson, and sister Sherry Dodson Graham.

Those who knew Tony will always remember him for his great personality and sense of humor, his kindness and generosity, his loyalty, his tremendous passion for sports, and enormous pride in his son and granddaughters. His love and memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
