Pottsville Volunteer Fire Department members Ray Stegemoller, Mark Dearing, Glenn Surley, James Long, Lane Cantrell, David Hood and Louis Stegemoller welcome the arrival of a new 3000 gallon tanker truck from Georgia on Tuesday. The brand new $237,600 truck was purchased with a $200,000 grant from the US Forest Service. Donations from an annual mailout, chili supper and funds from the county help to make up the cost difference. The new tanker is built on a 2020 Kenworth chassis and features a pump that will pump 1000 gallons of water per minute at 150 psi. Not only can the new tanker relieve their current 1981 model tanker but can be used as a back-up pumper, too.
