It’s been almost a year since the City of Hamilton partnered with Hutts for Mutts and L&L Veterinary Clinic to provide no-cost spays and neuters to low-income pet lovers. Although the final month’s numbers are still unavailable, through the first 11 months of the current program, 25 male dogs and 31 male cats were neutered, and 39 female dogs and 40 female cats were spayed, all at no cost to the owners. Eliminating 64 dogs and 71 cats from the local breeding population is a significant step toward reducing the number of unwanted animals in our community.
