Hospital to end Blue Advantage HMO agreement
At the Hamilton County Hospital District Board of Directors meeting on Jan. 27, Eddie Read, CFO, reported that the notice of termination for Blue Advantage HMO with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas been extended to Dec. 31, 2021. Despite HCHD’s attempts to resolve its issues with the insurance entity, both sides remain far apart. Read said with the current agreement, the hospital loses $25,000 to $30,000 monthly.

Hamilton Economic Development Corporation’s board of directors last week met with Historic Hamilton Main Street and the City of Hamilton representatives to discuss each entity’s plans and how to collaborate to accomplish them all cohesively.

THE WAITING GAME – While the newly renovated and expanded Hamilton Public Library looks complete from the outside, the inside is waiting for furniture. “We are in the waiting game,” said Director Nancy Diaz. Custom specific library furniture and shelving is still delayed as manufacturers are behind and not functioning at full capacity due to COVID. “We are starting to get organized,” said Diaz, “and will announce any new developments in the Hamilton Herald-News. Until we get everything in place, we are not allowing anyone inside. Thank you for your enthusiasm and patience.” Outside, engraved walkway bricks are reinstalled along the new front entrance of the library. The two rainwater harvesting tanks at the library are full.
