Virgie May Soules Sheldon, 92, of Evant passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at Cornerstone Gardens in Temple.

Graveside services will be at Hurst Ranch Cemetery at 11 a.m., Sept. 5 under the direction of Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Sheldon was born May 3, 1926, in Star to Jim and Maggie Boykin Soules. She was one of 11 children. She graduated from Star High School as valedictorian. She married Weldon Sheldon in August 1944 in Fort Worth. They spent 69 years together before Weldon passed in April 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, five sisters and her in-laws, Chester and Beatrice Sheldon.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Looney and husband Robert of Evant, Sue Turner of Bastrop and Beverly Rodgers of Converse; sister Lottie Morris of Mesquite; grandsons Sheldon Bennight and wife Jessica of Houston and Jason Rodgers of Converse; granddaughters Shelley Barrett of Stephenville and Melissa Ronacher and husband Kurt of Lafayette, Colorado; great-grandchildren Gracie and Jett Barrett, Micah Rodgers, Jackson Bennight and Kaylin and McKenzie Ronacher; sisters-in-law, Letha Sheldon of Evant and Nellie Sheldon of Gatesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
