TAP IT IN - Sixty six 2-person teams enjoyed the mild temps and rolling greens of Perry Country Club during the 13th annual Harry Bullard Golf Tournament
Hamilton High School was represented on Friday and Saturday at the 2A UIL Region II Track and Field Championships held at Porcupine Stadium in Springtown by a total of 18 student-athletes, including 11 Lady Bulldogs and seven Bulldogs.
The state-ranked Hamilton Bulldog baseball team stamped a regular season 21-9 record and a perfect 12-0 district record after shellacking Miles 9-2 at home on Tuesday of last week and going on the road to slam the door on Coleman last Friday by a score of 8-1.
RECORD PITCH - Leading all of Class 2A with 101 strikeouts, senior southpaw pitcher Chase Weaver (pictured winding up) recorded his 100th strikeout of the season for the third consecutive year on Tuesday of last week in a 9-2 home-win over district foe Miles. Weaver allowed no hits and no runs while adding nine strikeouts to his season tally in five innings of work. The senior was also 2-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Tucker Calcote matched Weaver’s offensive production, and senior Sutton Lee went 2-4 with a double. Calcote (pictured wearing #6) commanded the mound in Hamilton’s final district contest versus Coleman last Friday and no hit the Bluecats through seven full innings while registering nine putouts by strikeout. The Dogs blasted the Bluecats 8-1, capping a perfect 12-0 run through the District 7-2A gauntlet. Weaver again went 2-3 in the district finale with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Cole Bauman smashed two hits in three at-bats with one RBI, and Lee again went 2-4 with an RBI.
Hamilton High School track and field athletes continued to impress during the area track meet on Wednesday of last week in Rio Vista. Staring down top competitors from both District 11 and 12, Hamilton’s Lady Bulldogs defended their previous District 12 Championship by claiming an area team title, and the Bulldogs followed up their district championship run by placing second at the area meet behind only Tolar.
