Hamilton’s seventh grade Lady Bulldog cross country team added silver to a collection that already included a pair of gold medals after placing second last week in the Lipan Invitational.

Hamilton I.S.D. might want to consider investing in a secondary residence in Grand Prairie, as the Bulldog and Lady Bulldog cross-country teams have made the pilgrimage to Lynn Creek Park a biannual tradition. While getting a preview of the regional course on Saturday, Hamilton’s Lady Bulldogs staked claim to another top finish by besting 14 1A-4A teams during the annual Gerald Richey Invitational. The Lady Bulldogs dominated the field in what was the most competitive race of the season thus far. Six runners finished in the top 25 out of 120 competitors, and Hamilton’s top five combined for a cumulative winning score of 40. Sanger claimed silver with 46 points and was trailed by Quitman in third with 106. Presley Long and Chaska Downs again paced the Lady Dogs, placing second and third, respectively. Both Long and Downs traversed the two-mile course in under 12 minutes with Long finishing in a silvermedalist time of 11:51.90 and Downs earning the bronze in a time of 11:58.60. Anna Pearcy pierced a seventh overall finish, followed by Kaitlyn Walton 10th, Kate Lengefeld 18th, Milagros Moncada 25th and Kayla Tawater 49th. Piper Hanson, Alianne Downs and Berlin Bolton also joined the varsity fray in Grand Prairie, rounding out another championship team effort. Hamilton’s sub-varsity football teams came out of the gates with blazing saddles last Thursday evening and hit the opposing Early Longhorns in the snout early and often.

Hamilton’s junior high cross-country teams took Waco’s HOT (Heart of Texas) Soccer Complex by storm on Wednesday of last week during the Midway Middle School XC Invitational. Competing in just their second competition of the young season, the eighth grade Lady Bulldogs found a perch on the medal stand with a bronze medalist team finish, and the seventh grade Lady Dogs earned their spot atop the medal stand for the second consecutive week.

On Tuesday of last week, the varsity Lady Bulldogs played 3A McGregor to five sets on the road by scores of 2025, 25-14, 25-23, 19-25 and 17-19. In Valley Mills on Saturday, the Lady Dogs fought back from an 18-25 first set loss to take game two 25-22. The Lady Eagles eked out a two-point 25-23 victory in the third, and Hamilton roared back for a 25-16 win to force a deciding set. The host school finally stamped a 15-9 fifth set victory to claim the match. The varsity Lady Dogs were scheduled to host Tolar on Tuesday of this week before traveling to face Waco’s Bishop Reicher at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Next Tuesday, Hamilton’s junior varsity will host Waco Connally at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity Lady Dogs at 5:30.

With eight state titles under the program’s belt, including a pair the past two seasons, Hamilton’s Lady Bulldog cross-country runners remain keen on winning and steadfast in their pursuit of another state championship.
