The United States Postal Service has announced the official retirement of longtime rural carrier Tammy Burks of Evant.
Tammy has been with USPS for 28 years and nine months, the entire time on the same rural route.
She started her career Aug. 8, 1991, as a substitute rural mail carrier under Joy Gromatzky Giles. She was in that position for 19 years before getting the fulltime position in 2011.
Having been on the same rural route for her whole career and a native of Evant, she is an expert in Evant family history and folklore of the area.
