ACADEMIC ALL-STATE: Four Hamilton High School senior student-athletes were recognized last week by the Texas High School Coaches Association with academic all-state honors. Clementine Cooper and Laney Lane were each named to the volleyball academic all-state second team. Jaxon Edwards earned a second team football academic all-state nod, and Garrett Guinn received an academic all-state football honorable mention. With more accolades sure to come, seven members of the 14-1 state bronze medalist and state semifinalist Hamilton Bulldog football team were recognized last week by the Waco Tribune-Herald. As they do each year, the publication kicked off the superlative season by releasing their picks for the 2024 Super Centex Football Team, honoring 2A-6A players from Waco and the surrounding areas. Hamilton’s powerlifters snatched several medals while competing in their second meet of the young season last Thursday in Hico. The Lady Bulldogs combined for 29 points and a team silver behind only Comanche and ahead of Goldthwaite, Tolar, DeLeon, Stephenville, Hico, Jonesboro, Rising Star, Three Way, Dublin, Sidney and Evant.
