The City of Hamilton and the Hamilton EDC are partnering to bring this year’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection event to Hamilton on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

AUSTIN – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas Animal Health Commission received confirmation of one case of chronic wasting disease in a Brown County high fence ranch, marking the first confirmed detection in the county.
As I’m writing this, it’s in the low 20’s with the wind chill in single digits. Please keep in mind as we sit in our warm offices or homes, that our city crews are still out there working. When the temperature is this cold it can cause many problems with our water and sewage infrastructure that have to be attended to immediately, and our crews are on top of it.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced the 2025 enrollment periods for key safety-net programs – Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage as well as Dairy Margin Coverage. Agricultural producers can submit applications to USDA’s Farm Service Agency for ARC and PLC for the 2025 crop year from Jan. 21 to April 15 and for DMC for the 2025 coverage year from Jan. 29 to March 31. ARC and PLC provide financial protections to farmers from substantial drops in crop prices or revenues and are vital economic safety nets for most American farms. Meanwhile, DMC provides producers with price support to help offset milk and feed price differences.

Hamilton City Council met for 2 ½ hours last Tuesday, Jan. 14, but ultimately pulled back the reins on big money spending until they can get the budget situated.
Hamilton Independent School District Board of Trustees last Thursday received the district’s annual audit and a report from the facility bond committee. Trustees also recognized all-district members of the Hamilton Bulldog football team.
