Hamilton County Republican Party will meeting March 3 at 122 Cheyenne Mesa at 6:30 p.m., potluck. The speaker will be Dr. Harper Stewart from Hamilton Independent School District discussing the school bond coming up in the May election.

Break out your best spring-inspired costumes, masks, beads and feathers, the Texas Botanical Gardens & Native American Interpretive Center, Inc. will host a Mardi Gras celebration Spring Fling in the gardens Saturday, March 1, at the Goldthwaite Pavilion, 1012 W. Third St., starting at 5 p.m.

A reminder that this Saturday, the 22nd, is the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hamilton City Park located at 1007 Park Rd. This event is open to residents of Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills and San Saba counties. The funds made available are for recycling a certain amount of hazardous waste materials, and when the grant limit is reached, the recycling will end. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arriving early is recommended. There are various sources that outline what items are acceptable and which items are not.
