Dennis M. “Mike” and Billie Katherine (Bottlinger) Looney are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple exchanged vows Sept. 18, 1965, at St John Lutheran Church in Hamilton. Their story began in the first grade classroom of Mrs. Adeline Kitching at the then-Hamilton Elementary School, on Railroad Street, but did not blossom until their junior year at Hamilton High School. The next 34 years were dedicated to service to the U.S. Air Force. Mike retired as a CMSgt with 27plus years and Billie as a civil servant for 34 years. After retirement, they resided in Henderson, Nevada, for several years before eventually moving back to their small farm in Hamilton. They were blessed with two sons, Ed and wife Wendy and Dale. The couple also has three grandchildren, Lexie, Daniel and Dylan and his wife Francesca, as well as a great-grandson, Oliver. The couple can be spotted at most Hamilton Bulldog or Lady Dog sporting events or at St. John Lutheran Church.
Hamilton Community Center is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. each day. Menu subject to change Thursday: Pimento cheese sandwich, pickle, cookies. Donated by First United Methodist Church, play dominoes at noon Friday: Ham, potato, salad, ranch style beans, cookies. Donated by Lanham Methodist & Bethel Methodist. Come play dominoes at noon.
Pat Watson is the Focused Care Dove Queen, and Brenda Miles and Joyce Evans are the runners up for 2025. Coincidentally, Pat’s daughter, Valerie Watson Yocham, was the very first Hamilton Dove Festival Queen in 1974.

The Menzdorf and Witzsche had their family reunion Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Pottsville Community Center. A potluck lunch was served and dancing, dominoes games and fishing for the kids.
