Virginia ‘Ginger’ Crum

Thursday, October 14, 2021

Don Crum and sons, Bryon and Brad, wish to invite you to join them in a Celebration of Life event for their beloved wife of 56 years, mother and grandmother, Virginia (aka, Ginger) Crum on Wednesday, Oct 13, 2021, at the Purdon Community Church, at 200 W. 2 nd Street in Purdon. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with funeral service at 11 a.m. A celebration lunch will be shared at the church following the service. There will be no service at the Hamilton Beeman Cemetery.

Virginia, who suffered many years from diabetes, transferred to her new home in heaven to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday night, Oct. 10, 2021.

Ginger graduated from Hamilton High School, in Hamilton. and received her RN diploma from Hillcrest Baptist School of Nursing in Waco. She loved nursing, especially at Navarro Regional Hospital with Mrs. Toland.

She also loved working with children in churches by her husband’s side whether it was in Texas, NY, Maryland, Oregon, or Indiana, mostly in small churches. This required her to work in local hospitals as a nurse.

She and Pastor Don began their ministry together in Purdon Baptist Church (now Purdon Community Church) in the mid-60s; returned there in 2018, restarted the church and now has ended her ministry there.

In all the churches they served, everybody loved Ginger although she quickly let it be known that she didn’t play the piano or sing!

She never received world acclaim, but we do love her for being the best wife and mother any family would ever want!

Possessing a subtle sense of humor, she would often sing praise songs around the house, but she would quickly tell you that she will not be teaching the angels in heaven how to sing! She loved the Gaither music. We owe a deep gratitude to Autumn, Nina and Erica of Community Healthcare of Texas and caregiver Barbara Henderson.

Left to cherish her memory are: Husband Don, two sons — Bryon and wife Violet and Bradley and wife Tonya; four grandchildren — Tyler Casbeer, Kirsten Seth with husband Christian, Emaleigh, and Justin; two sisters, Linda Norton, Myra Reinert with husband Roy; brother Ward Richmond with wife Linda; sister-in-law’s Virginia Martin and Doris Glasgow with husband Larry; brother-in-law Clyde Crum; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The service will be live on Purdon Community Church Facebook.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, 200 S. Park Road, Ste 100, Hollywood, FL 33021; Phone: 800-321-3437.
