Theodore Rexford “T. Rex” Belrose, 50, of Sweetgum, Texas went to his eternal slumber after eight years on the run from Wild Bill Boudreaux, the toughest bounty hunter this side of the Pecos.

A truck driver by trade, Belrose was never without his signature Elvis sunglasses and the Mack Truck hat that he wore at a jaunty angle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to gamble…if only he had been good at it. T. Rex was a pretty good husband… on the rare occasions he came home. He was the kind of guy that broke wind at the Thanksgiving dinner table and blamed it on the dog but was always loved by his family.

He leaves behind a stunningly beautiful, glamorous and sophisticated wife, mortuarial cosmetologist Portia Louise “Peaches” Verdeen Belrose. Survivors include cousins-in-law frustrated and frazzled Gaynelle Verdeen Bodeen and successful entrepreneur Jimmy Wyvette Verdeen.

Services will be held at the newly roofed Ross Street Theater on Sep 28, Oct 5 and Oct 12 at 6:30 p.m. and on Sept 29, Oct 6 and Oct 13 at 2 p.m.

The whole Verdeen family will be in attendance. Be forewarned that Aunt LaMerle, fresh from the slammer, will be cooking up a coup and exacting revenge on the “lesser” Verdeen cousins before the dirt hits the casket. Witty and spry Uncle Aubrey will likely be pursuing the neighborly Mama Doll in their never-ending game of strip hide-and-seek. The Verdeens nosy neighbor Bitsy is still pining over Travis Ponder. Hopefully, Jimmy Wyvette doesn’t have to hog tie her before the service is over.

As always, when the Verdeen family gathers, concessions will be available. Gaynelle will serve her prized red velvet cake on her grandmother’s fine china to the highest bidder. A surprise cake will be including in the auction each night but beware Aunt Nini’s Beijing Weiner Bake.

Rumor has it Cee Cee Windham of Sweetgum’s hit cable show Hospitality House, the cousin’s new guru Genteel Harmony and the First Lady of Texas will make appearances.

Contributions and reservations can be made at hamilton-theatre.org or by calling 254-784-9208.

The Verdeen family is together again in Rex’s Exes, the sequel to last year’s hit production Red Velvet Cake Wars by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. Directed by Duane Cowart, this hilarious production of the Hamilton Civic Theater is a must see. Reserve your tickets today!
