Robert Hanes

Robert Granville Hanes, 83, of Pottsville, made his crossing over the Rainbow Bridge Jan. 7, 2022.

He was the son of Gregory Smith Hanes, late of San Angelo, and Ruth Roach Hanes Carpenter Lipinski, late of Grand Prairie.

A graduate of Sunset High School, Dallas, Class of 1955, he also attended the University of Texas Austin.

Robert retired from IBM Austin in 1990 and moved to Pottsville, where he and P C continued their work with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. They also established a dog rescue and rehoming service which continued through 2010.

He loved to read and never met a dog he didn’t like.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pat Carroll (P C) Wisdom Hanes and three children from a previous marriage to Patsy Ann Crawford Hanes Forsythe: Deborah Ann Hanes of Caledonia, Michigan, and Joan Blessings, Steven Michael Hanes of Garland and Michael Lax and Gregory Lynn Hanes of Evant and Darla Matthys; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Russell and Leah Bronson, Owen and Noah, James Bronson, and Randy and Lindsay Bronson Larrabee, Makenna, Ben and Carson, all of Michigan.

Interment was in Pottsville Cemetery.
