P.C. Hanes

Patricia Carroll (P.C.) Wisdom Hanes passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, in Waco.

A graveside service was held Jan. 2 in Pottsville Cemetery with family and friends attending. Arrangements were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.

P.C. was born June 16, 1947, in Houston, the daughter of William Jackson Wisdom and Margaret Long Wisdom. She grew up in Houston and attended Houston schools.

After graduation, she attended Rice University and Tarleton State University majoring in marine biology. Upon finishing her college days, she married Robert Hanes.

Together they began the Central Texas Animal Rescue. Bob and PC rescued and fostered many orphaned and neglected animals through the years. In later years they moved their animal rescue service from Austin to the Pottsville community. P.C. spent many happy years helping starving and unwanted animals. It didn’t matter if it was a lion or a mouse, she took special care of them.

After Bob’s death, she remained in the Pottsville community taking care of her last foster dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson, Stephen.

She is survived by her sister, Ashley Lowe of Amarillo; brother Jack Wisdom of Houston; stepdaughter Deb Hanes of Michigan; stepson Greg Hanes of Evant; a special cousin, Candace Thompson of Port Aransas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her special friends Felton, Daisy and Cheryl will miss her laughter, smiles and many life stories she shared with them.
