Paul Ising

Paul Carl Ising was born May 28, 1952, and passed away Jan. 10, 2024.

The world has lost a towering man, both in height and spirit. He was a cornerstone in family, community and any who crossed his path.

Paul Carl Ising was one of a kind, unforgettable and endearing to anyone he met. He was a giant in his ability to love and care for others and brought joy wherever he went. Anyone who knew him was lucky to experience the magic, the huge smile, the stories, the humor, the barbecue, the selfless hard work, the tireless help and the love he so freely gave his whole life.

Paul Carl was born an only child to parents Charlie and Julia, and he lived almost his entire life on his family ranch outside of Star. He attended school with his future wife Beth at Star.

He was wise in the ways of nature and the land, farming and ranching, and he was passionate about sciences and mathematics, as well as athletics.

He attended the University of Houston with honors and married Beth in 1979. They had two daughters, Laura and Bonnie, who were lucky to have the best parents and fortunate to grow up on the land he loved. He was the most fun, loving and supportive dad that his daughters could ask for. He adored his whole family. He lived in the Star community, working his ranch that he loved with his wife Beth until well after retirement.

He was an ever-present force in family and community who was involved in everything; always volunteering, building, wiring, fixing, drivdren ing, helping.. all while joking and smiling, telling tales with that smile, that hat and those mischievous blue eyes.

His big hands were forever rough, but his heart was the softest and greatest many will ever know.

He left us in peaceful sleep on Jan. 10th; and with that, he is leaving a huge pair of dusty work boots that will never be filled. He was 71.

Paul leaves his wife Beth, his daughter Laura and her husband Matthew Presley and his daughter Bonnie and her partner Wade Rogers, who will all continue to honor the Ising Family and Ranch.

Rest easy Paul, Daddy, Tinker, Paul Carl, PC, Pauly, Mr. Ising... You were so much to so many, and larger than this life.

Viewing will be at Stacy- Wilkins in Goldthwaite Jan. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be at Stacy-Wilkins Saturday at 2 p.m. with graveside service immediately following in the McGirk Cemetery near the Ising Ranch.

Family and friends will gather after services at the Star Volunteer Fire Department in Star for visiting, stories and refreshments.
