Martha Lou Abbott Haase, 77, of the Ater community, passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving daughters and family.

Graveside services were Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Ater Cemetery with Rev. Chris Post officiating.

Mrs. Haase was born Oct. 27, 1940, in Haskell to Barnie and Mary Ruth Myers Abbott. She grew up in the Ater community on her parents’ farm, where she lived her entire life. She attended Jonesboro school and was a member of the class of 1958.

She married Richard Otto Haase of Jonesboro in 1981. She loved family, friends, music, games with her grandchildren and being at home. She kept close ties with all her extended family and friends. She was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Hamilton County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Haase; son Alan Timmons; sister Patsy Rivers Morgan; and two brothers, Cohnie and John Abbott.

Survivors include three daughters, Ginger Dossman, Wendy Suggs and husband Guy, Rockie Swain and husband Robert; daughter-in-law, Penny Timmons; brother Hulon Abbott and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Dustin Dossman, Amanda Balzen, Nathaniel Dossman, Chelsea Dean, Patrick Timmons, Cameron Jones, Lauren Jones, Mackenzie Suggs, Raven Suggs, Kally Swain, Becky Dulaney, Willie Suggs, Billy Suggs and Casey Suggs; great-grandchildren, Carlie Dossman, Journee Dean, Levi Dossman and August Dossman.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or Ater Cemetery Association.
