Kieth W. Baker, 52, of Gatesville, passed away of a heart attack Feb. 5, 2019.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Scott’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Baker was born May 16, 1966, in Gatesville to W.H. and Alwilda Miller Baker. During his teenage years, he lived with his cousin, Clarence and Wanda Baker’s family in Levita, and to this day they consider him their own.

He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1985 where he was a talented football player.

After high school, he was a welder and worked on the pipeline as a heavy equipment operator in Alaska and Arizona.

While in Arizona, he met Sandra Carver, and they married Dec. 1, 1995, in Glendale, Arizona. They moved home to Gatesville, and Kieth later started Baker’s Bulldozer Service.

He was a man you could count on to help anyone in need, a wonderful provider for his family and a man of integrity. Kieth dedicated his life to building a highly respected, honest business and treating his customers like family.

He was a devoted husband and father, and he loved the Lord. He was a loyal friend surrounded by lifelong friendships and was quick to joke and laugh.

He also had a deep devotion to his dog Zoie, whom Sandy calls his “other wife.” He was an excellent cook. He enjoyed collecting antiques and John Wayne memorabilia, doing projects around the house, watching westerns and educational shows about wildlife and history, fishing and barbecuing for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings, Bud Crane and Paul Miller.

Survivors include his adoring wife of 23 years, Sandra Baker; children, Christopher Baker and wife Ness, Kayla Blanks and husband Austin, Daniel Scholler and wife Natalie; sister Audra Buzzard and husband Michael; brother John Hewitt; nieces, nephews and cousins he considered siblings, Rena Gibson, Christina Coleman, Adam Baker and Daniel Baker; and many cherished cousins.

Donations in Kieth’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church of Flat, P.O. Box 87, Flat, TX 76526.
