William “Jim” James Ault Jr., 78, passed away Sept. 9, 2022, at Rosewood Nursing and Rehab Center after a short battle with brain cancer.

Graveside service will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.

Jim was born March 13, 1944, in Sullivan, Indiana to William James Ault and Martha Rose Myers Ault, the oldest of nine children.

Jim joined the US Army in September 1961 at the age of 17 and served his country for 20 years before retiring in September 1981. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class and was part of the 1st Armored Division, 1st Cavalry Division, and 2nd Armored Division.

After his military career, he worked various jobs, which included small engine and automotive repair, truck driver, flea market vendor and park host for the US Army Corps of Engineers at Belton Lake.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing baseball, camping, boating, fishing, telling stories and spending time with his family and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Charlotte Ault.

He is survived by his wife Debra Ault; children Dicie (Wayne) Wilson of Illinois, William J. Ault III and Elizabeth Rush of Texas, Tiffany Serratore of Indiana and Robert (Sarah) Serratore of Oklahoma; sisters Connie (George) Cornwell, Phyllis (Gordon) Collins, Rita Morgan and Billie (Vic) Ralston of Illinois; brothers Chuck Ault, Randy Ault and Darrel (Peggy) Ault of Illinois; sister-in-law Theresa (Mike) Piechocinski of Illinois; grandchildren Amber Weems, Benjamin Weems, Tyler Rush, Christopher Rush, Wesley Serratore, McKinzie Serratore, Caleb Serratore, Josh Jones, Zack Sutter and Zander Serratore; and two great-grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Weems.
