Ginger Lanmon

Donna Ginger Calhoun Lanmon, 61, of Hamilton went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2023.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home. Services will be Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Liveoak Cemetery.

Ginger was born Aug. 28, 1961, in Hamilton to Douglas Calhoun and Jeane Lane Calhoun. Ginger’s family moved to Granbury for several years before returning to the Hamilton area by her sixth-grade year, and she graduated from Hamilton High School in 1979.

She married her high school sweetheart, Herman Lanmon Jr. on Jan. 3, 1980. They started their life together in Temple for college before moving back to Hamilton in the fall of 1981.

They have four children, Bradley, Chelsea, Corbin and Lauren. Ginger remained at home and raised each one because her belief was “It’s the most important thing a mom can do.” She loved being a mom and later “Gram.”

Ginger entered the workplace when Lauren went to kindergarten. She worked briefly for Quality Auto Care, Sugarbakers and Crouch and White before having the opportunity to work for the Hamilton Herald-News. She found what she really liked to do and spent 16 years there and enjoyed the interaction with the community.

She then worked for Edward Jones, Texas Department of Corrections as an Administrative Assistant II and had just finished her first year as office Administrator for TxDOT in Hamilton.

Ginger was known as “Gram” to the ones most important, her wonderful grandchildren Riker, Ellisyn and Meryn West and Otis Lanmon.

Survivors include her husband Herman Lanmon Jr.; her father, Douglas Gayle Calhoun and mother, Ethyl Jeane Lane Calhoun of Hamilton; children Herman Bradley Lanmon and wife Karra and their son Otis of Jacksboro, Chelsea Lanmon West and husband Jacob and their children, Ryker, Ellisyn and Meryn of Purmela; Corbin Bryce Lanmon of Austin; and Lauren Lanmon Surley and husband Stephen of San Marcos; and brothers Michael Calhoun and James Calhoun.
