Gay Catchings, 76, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her home.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Hamilton. Private interment was in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Mrs. Catchings was born June 15, 1943, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Aubrey (Gibby) and Ruth Holt Gibson. Her father was a Naval Commander, which enabled her grow up in many places throughout the United States. She graduated high school in Hawaii.

After graduation, she resided most of her life in Texas.

She married Cecil (Buddy) Catchings in 1996. Gay worked for B.N.S.F. Railroad and American Funds, retiring from there in 2005. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Hamilton. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music. She was known by her grandchildren as “GiGi.” She was a member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil (Buddy) Catchings; daughter Donella Herrera and husband Rudy; sons Glenn Harrison and wife Shelly and Randy McKibben; sisters Jeanie Harlin and husband Jerry and Gwen Kelly and husband Pat; four grandchildren, Chad Harrison, Holly Harrison, Taylor McKibben and Drew McKibben; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been designated to the Hamilton Public Library, 201 N. Pecan St., Hamilton, TX 76531.
