Eugene (DuWayne) Jeschke, 81, of Hamilton passed away Sept. 11, 2023.

Services will be Thursday, Sept. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton with private burial preceding in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville.

The youngest of three siblings, Eugene was born to Charlie and Lena (Lucas) Jeschke on Feb. 9, 1942, at Kooken Clinic Hospital in Hamilton. He was baptized March 22, 1942, and confirmed into the Lutheran church.

He graduated from Pottsville High School in 1959. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. At a dance in Pottsville, he met the love of his life, Alice Christine Surley, whom he married Oct. 24, 1964.

Two children were born to this union, Pamela and Johann. Alice and Eugene danced through more than 55 years of marriage until she passed away Feb. 7, 2020.

Eugene was a mechanic. He ran the stands and helped with the press in the cotton gin at Smith and Jones for many years before opening his own small business repair. He drove a school bus for Hamilton ISD and fuel truck for Texaco. He retired in 2007 to tinker with clocks and locks.

He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life; an infant daughter; his parents, Charlie and Lena Jeschke; brother Gardine; and sister Charlene Zimmerman.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Squyres and husband Shawn of Waco; son Johann and wife Kym of Hamilton; two brothersin- law, Curtis Surley of Plainview and Eldon and wife Barbara Surley of Colleyville; sisters-in-law, Virginia Surley of Brownwood and Etheline Surley of Pottsville; a host of nieces and nephews; grandchildren Brannon Squyres of Waco, Jacob Squyres and wife Jodi of Waco, Nicholaus Squyres of Waco, Trint Jeschke and Johanna Jeschke of Hamilton; and great-grandchildren Cadence Squyres, Melody Squyres and Arabella Squyres.

Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Hamilton Community Center.
