Dorothy Svanajord

Dorothy May (Waight) Svanajord, 97, of Pottsville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023..

A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Comanche Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1925, to Arthur Alvin Waight and Thelma Jenkins Waight in Pottsville.

She attended college at McMurry College in Abilene, Texas. After college she taught school in Kansas. While there, she met her husband, Benny Svanajord. They were married for 36 years. During this time, she lived in Goodrich, Minnesota.

Upon his death she moved back to Pottsville. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three broth-ers, Kenneth, Arthur and Don.

Survivors include 2 nieces, Dianne Velzy and Donnett Waight; four nephews, Tommy Waight; two great-nieces, Trella Waight and Alexys Goodwin; and one great-great grandniece, Aspyn Goodwin.
