Darlene Elva Keeter, 88, passed away May 24, 2024, in Stephenville.

Graveside services were held May 26 in Country Oaks Cemetery with Frank Brisco officiating.

Darlene was born July 23, 1935, in Big Spring to parents Martin and Ruth (Millihollon) Taylor and was raised in Gail.

She graduated from Snyder High School. She was a cowgirl and loved riding horses.

She moved to Hamilton County in 1959 with her first husband, Billie Holley, who was a horse trainer and farrier. Billie passed away in 1969.

Darlene went to work at Cattle Auction Barns to support her three children. That is where she met Dick Keeter and later married him. They were married 50 years.

She was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Stephenville. She enjoyed old time country western music, especially if it included a fiddle player.

Later in life, her hobbies included researching family history and scrapbooking. Her favorite place to visit with Dick was Branson, Missouri.

Darlene was preceded by first husband Billie Holley, parents Martin and Ruth Taylor, son Loyd Holley, stepgrandson Clint Gertson and sister Doris Rudd.

Darlene is survived by husband Verner Wayne “Dick” Keeter; daughter Evlyn Gollehon and spouse Al; son Boyd Holley and spouse Kathleen; stepdaughters Allison Trujillo and spouse Allen and Elisa Keeter Adams; four grandchildren, Dena Holley Stormer and spouse Clayton, Dalton Holley, Jessica Holley Coalson and spouse Jason and Jared Holley; step grandchildren Case Orand, Garrett Orand and spouse Veronica and Cori St. Pierre; and 10 great-grandchildren.
