Who is they?
My mom used to ask me that question all the time when I was a teenager.
“They’re going to the malt stand. Can I go?”
“Who is they?”
But now “they” can mean one person.
As of last week, Merriam-Webster has added it to the dictionary as a “nonbinary pronoun.”
